David De Gea used to be one of the best goal keepers in the world but in the past two seasons, he has consistently made blunders much to the despair of the Man United supporters.
The Spanish international was a massive flop at the 2018 World Cup and since that tournament, he has not been able to hit top form. In turn, the Red Devils have suffered.
Transfer: Man Utd prepared to offer huge terms to finally sign £70million star – Report
Last year, the former Atletico Madrid star signed a bumper new contract with the Old Trafford outfit. Based on his average performances, he surely did not deserve a pay rise.
Former Man Utd manager, Jose Mourinho, was right to claim that the 29-year-old is lucky to earn so much. The Portuguese coach stated:
‘I don’t see the pressure, who is going to pay David these numbers? (De Gea) gets a phenomenal contract in a moment where he’s a bit lucky to get it.”
You have to feel sorry for Sergio Romero. He has done consistently well for the club in the cup competitions but somehow, he ends up losing his place to De Gea, who seems to be cursed.
In the FA Cup, Romero kept 4 clean sheets in 5 appearances but for the semi final vs Chelsea, Solskjaer opted to start De Gea, who gifted the Blues two goals to advance to the final.
The Argentine shot stopper was brilliant in Man Utd’s Europa League winning campaign back in 2016/2017. This time around, in 9 appearances, he kept 7 clean sheets and conceded just 2 goals.
However, unbelievably, for some reason, Solskjaer thought that it would be a great idea to start De Gea in the semi final vs Sevilla and the Spanish side ended up eliminating the Red Devils. La Liga club’s goalie Bounou saved 6 out of the 7 shots on target. On the other hand, Sevilla had 3 shots on target and the Spaniard only managed to save 1.
If United really want to have any chance of competing for top prizes next season then they must play a reliable shot stopper week in week out. Therefore, it is time to get rid of De Gea.
Dean Henderson, who had an impressive campaign on loan with Sheffield, should be made the first choice goalie.
De Gea and Ole must go, Ole has the habit of waiting until things gets worse, that is when he is going to make a change. De Geaa is losing value so we better sell him and give the chance to Romero and Dean.
Infact we’re tired of De Gea
Indeed De gea has cost us this season. He should go so that others may get a chance.
Any time I look at ManU line up and DeGea is there, I bet that we are losing that match. Dean is better, sell him
