Journalist – Man Utd have now held talks with reps to sign £39million defender

Pervis Estupiñan of Ecuador

Manchester United have had a very slow summer so far, not making many moves in the transfer market except for Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon. The Brazilian attacker is the only high-profile addition to the team this summer so far.

However, Ruben Amorim will be the first one to hold his hands up and admit that there is still so much work left to be done on the squad.

This includes securing exits for the players who are no longer in plans and freeing up wage space for the new signings.

Now, as per journalist Ben Jacobs, who is generally a very reputable source, Manchester United have held talks with representatives of Brighton’s left‑back Pervis Estupinan, suggesting serious interest in the Ecuadorian left-back.

Man Utd and AC Milan want Pervis Estupinan

The journalist also mentioned AC Milan as an interested club in the £39million defender.

At 27, Estupinan is a Premier League-seasoned, attack-minded left-back. He made 36 appearances across all competitions, scoring 1 goal and providing 1 assist. One major concern for the defender though has been his consistent injuries.

Perfect fit for Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3?

Known for his high-energy overlaps, strong passing and solid defensive abilities, Estupinan feels like a player born to play as a wing-back and in Ruben Amorim’s Man Utd team, he will get the opportunity to own that position.

Brighton are open to letting the South American go, after recruiting Maxim De  Cuyper.

The Seagulls are always a great selling club though and would hold out until Man Utd or any other club meets their asking price for him.

It remains to be seen if Christopher Vivell & co. make a concrete attempt to sign Estupinan this summer.

The Ecuadorian would be an excellent addition to a struggling Man Utd team this summer, injuries permitting and let’s wait and see how it plays out.
