Mourinho Preparing €100Million Deal for World-Class Winger: Reports

Manchester United will reportedly lodge an attempt to sign Gareth Bale before Thursday’s 11 pm deadline. The Wales international was recently booed by Real Madrid fans in the 2-2 draw against Valencia, and this has intensified speculation over his future.

According to Don Balon, Jose Mourinho is prepared to make a club-record €100m bid for the Welshman before the transfer window closes. Bale appears to also have set his sights on working under the Special One, and he would turn down an approach from any other club.

However, the deal does have its complications with president Florentino Perez not having a ready-made replacement for the three-time Champions League winner. Juventus’ Paulo Dybala and Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann are among the top targets who could replace the 28-year-old, but they are unlikely to convince either club into a sale with the deadline fast approaching.

Mourinho had earlier this month cited that he is ‘comfortable‘ with the squad as it is, with the return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic likely to enhance United’s title prospects in the second half of the campaign. Nevertheless, there will be a sense of disappointment at the club’s failure to sign a new winger in this summer’s transfer window.

Manchester United are the only side with a perfect record in the new Premier League season, having clinched three victories with no goals conceded in the process.
