Jose Mourinho reacts to Danny Rose speculation

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has remained coy over speculation linking Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose with a summer move to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils clinched a sublime victory in their Premier League opener on Sunday afternoon as they brushed side West Ham United by a 4-0 scoreline. Romelu Lukaku scored his first two league goals for United in the 33rd and 52nd minute respectively before late goals from Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba sealed the emphatic win. The triumph takes United to the top of the league standings on goal difference ahead of Huddersfield Town.

Prior to United’s curtain raiser, Mourinho was asked whether the club would make a move for Danny Rose. As always, the manager refused to comment on the speculation citing that it would be unfair on his part to speak about other club’s players, he said h/t ESPN: “I should not comment because Mauricio would not be happy if I comment, Mr Levy would not be happy if I comment and because I had nothing to do with that interview. I just read it the way you did, I just read, but Danny Rose is a Spurs player and it is not my problem at all.”

Rose had been linked with a potential move to Old Trafford after he hit out at the club’s hierarchy for the lack of transfer activity during the summer transfer window. The England international has since issued an apology to manager Mauricio Pochettino for his comments, but he has been fined two weeks’ wages for his troubles.
