Manchester United are reportedly said to have ‘close to zero‘ interest in Gareth Bale ahead of this summer’s transfer window. The Wales international has had another stop-start campaign at Real Madrid, and this has spread speculation of him leaving the Bernabeu during the off-season.
According to The Independent’s Miguel Delaney, United are no longer interested in a move for the Welshman despite the continuous transfer links, which have emerged from the Spanish media.
United manager Jose Mourinho entertained the prospect of pursuing Bale from Los Blancos during last summer’s transfer window, but the deal never materialised with Zinedine Zidane maintaining his not-for-sale stance.
Though the £90million star is no longer said to be ‘indispensable’, United have pursued Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal to bolster their attack front in January, and there appears no necessity for further reinforcements in the summer.
Meanwhile, Mourinho has repeatedly mentioned that he is content with his options at hand, and the ongoing link with Bale has been influence more so by the uncertainty of Anthony Martial’s future.
A recent French report suggested that Martial could end his Red Devils association during the summer, but the 22-year-old has since been offered reassurances of a bigger role under the guidance of Mourinho.
