Fabrizio Romano has once again confirmed that Man Utd ‘have an agreement’ with de Ligt but they do not want to meet Bayern’s asking price in a single payment.
The Italian journalist said on his Youtube channel:
“Man United have an agreement with Matthijs de Ligt, but outgoings are crucial, and at the moment, Man United will never agree to pay 50 million euros in one solution or with no add-ons.”
Romano says that the Old Trafford outfit want a favorable payment structure with objectives and for now, De Ligt is waiting for the two sides to reach an agreement.
On the other hand, famous Sky Sports transfer journalist, Florian Plettenberg claims Man Utd have thus far come up with low bids for the Netherlands international.
Therefore, Bayern Munich have turned them down and have no plans of lowering their demands. He stated on X:
“So far, Manchester United are offering significantly less than €40m for Matthijs de Ligt! FC Bayern have rejected every offer so far. They are firm about not negotiating on this. Man Utd (or another club) have to pay €50m plus bonus payments.
“De Ligt‘s sale price is an important internal issue. In this regard, Max Eberl must and should remain firm.”
Romano says Bayern have an agreement to sign Jonathan Tah, however, for the Bayer Leverkusen center back to arrive at the Allianz, they need to offload De Ligt.
So, it will not come as any surprise if De Ligt does end up reuniting with Erik ten Hag at Man Utd this summer.
