According to L’Equipe, Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is regretting returning to Old Trafford and hopes for a move to Real Madrid.
The 24-year-old re-joined United from Juventus in 2016, four years after having originally left the Red Devils, and has struggled for consistency under Jose Mourinho.
Pogba has been substituted twice in his last three Premier League appearances and started one of the aforementioned games on the bench.
The French international enjoyed a successful debut season, ending the campaign strongly with the EFL Cup and Europa League, but things have since spiralled.
His form had picked up in the tail end of 2016/17 and the start of 2017/18, but he’s now looking fallible and his future is up in the air as a result.
Real Madrid have long been linked with Pogba’s signature, and reports suggest Los Blancos could lure the midfielder to the Santiago Bernabéu due to his broken relationship with Mourinho.
It’s a major blow as the 24-year-old has only spent 18 months back at Old Trafford, making 81 appearances in all competitions, but the £90m midfielder just hasn’t made the desired impact.
United can’t afford to lose him, however, as Michael Carrick is retiring, Marouane Fellaini could move to Besiktas and Ander Herrera’s been linked with AC Milan, so Mourinho would be very short of options.
