Manchester United have been consistently linked with Argentine international and River Plate striker, Julian Alvarez this month and reports in the media suggest that they are at the forefront to sign the youngster.
According to Calcio Mercato, the likes of Inter Milan, Juventus and AC Milan are interested in the 21-year-old center forward but they are not in pole position.
Transfer: Man Utd in concrete contact to sign £58million in form star – Report
Instead, the Italian news source have mentioned that Man Utd and Bayern Munich are in the front row, further ahead of the Serie A sides.
The South American forward has been highly impressive for River Plate. In the last campaign, he started just 17 games and directly contributed in 25 goals (18 goals and 7 assists) to help his team win the Primera Division.
So, it is not surprising that top European clubs are after his signature. In another report covered by Calcio Mercato yesterday, it is stated that his signing can only be secured by paying a sum of 30 million euros (£25million), 25 million euros for the release clause, and the remaining in taxes and commissions.
At the moment, Man Utd do not have a weak strike force. Legendary goal scorers like Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani are there, on the other hand, Marcus Rashford can be effectively utilized in the No.9 role as well.
However, for the long term, they definitely need to sign a young striker, and perhaps, they should not pass up the opportunity to sign Julian Alvarez this month.
