Man United backed to secure signing of £45million ‘strong’ defender

Caglar Soyuncu Turkey

Manchester United could only earn a single point against Tottenham Hotspur last night and Chelsea have the chance to extend their lead over the Red Devils to 5 points when they face Aston Villa tomorrow.

Yes, De Gea made the blunder but our back-line was at fault as well when Steven Bergwijn easily ran past two of our defenders to have a clear shot on goal.

Solskjaer did improve our defense last summer by signing Maguire and Wan-Bissaka but the Red Devils have been backed to sign another defender by a former manager in the form of Graeme Souness, who thinks that the Old Trafford outfit still need to improve things at the back.

The Liverpool legend thinks that United need to strengthen the back-line to challenge the Merseysiders and Soyuncu would be a quality addition. He wrote for The Times:

“In terms of potential solutions, I like Caglar Soyuncu at Leicester City very much. The 24-year-old Turkey centrer-back is strong, quick and good on the ball but crucially also takes defending seriously.”

Soyuncu joined Leicester in order to replace Harry Maguire and in all fairness, he has been better than our skipper. The Turkish star immediately strengthened the Foxes, who had the 3rd best defensive record before the suspension of the campaign due to COVID-19 outbreak.

The 28-capped international has regularly started for the 2015-16 PL champions under the management of Brendan Rodgers and as per reports (AS), now, he is valued at 50 million euros (£45million).

After 30 league games last term, we conceded 40 goals. This time around, we have only conceded 31. So, the investment made last summer has worked.

As far as the central defense is concerned, we already have four experienced players and therefore, there is no need sign another CB when we badly need to strengthen other key areas.

  1. utd have 2 regular CB but Lindelof is no good and the rest are always injured, so yes we need another CB but no way will Leicester sell for 45 mill.
