More recently, Football Insider have revealed that the Red Devils have reached an agreement in principle with the 23-year-old to hire his services.
The news source have mentioned that now, they need to agree a fee with the Dutch side to complete his signing in the winter window. Last summer, United’s bid worth £25million was turned down by PSV.
As per the latest reports going on in the media, a fee close to £38m-£43m (45-50million euros) would be needed to secure his signature (Calcio Mercato).
Gakpo has mainly excelled on the left wing in the Eredivisie but he can effectively play anywhere in the attacking third.
For the Netherlands, at the opening game of the World Cup, he played in the No. 10 role and scored the opening goal of game against Senegal.
The playmaker repeated the feat in the second game versus Ecuador as well, this time playing as the main center forward up-front.
The reigning Dutch Player of the Year has consistently scored and created goals in the past two campaigns and he has the talent to be a hit at Old Trafford.
In your view, should Man Utd agree a fee of around £38m-£43m to sign Cody Gakpo?
