Manchester United were heavily linked with Bruno Fernandes in the summer transfer window but the Portuguese international eventually stayed with Sporting CP.

Now, the Primeira Liga star is once again in the lime light and reports suggest that Man United are considering a move to finally sign him.

Transfer: Man United rushing to sign £51million forward this month – Report

According to Goal, the Red Devils are looking to sign a creative midfielder in the winter transfer window and a few top players have been in the focus. It is mentioned that Eriksen and Maddison were top targets but the Danish star could join Inter Milan and the England international might not leave Leicester until the summer.

In such a scenario, United are once again considering the capture of Bruno Fernandes, who signed a new contract with the Lions back in November (Goal).

Even after agreeing the new deal, which basically improved his wages but did not alter the contract duration (2023) or the release clause, renowned Portuguese source A Bola (via Sport Witness) did not rule out the attacking midfielder’s departure in the middle of the campaign and claimed that a move worth 70 million euros (£59.5million) could be enough to get his signing done.

The 25-year-old star was in superb form for Sporting CP last term. In all competitions, he directly contributed in 50 goals in just 53 appearances and helped his team win two cup titles.

Moreover, he was part of the Portugal team that won the UEFA Nations League last year. For the senior international side, so far, he has scored 2 goals and provided 3 assists in 19 appearances under the management of Fernando Santos.

In the current campaign for his club, so far, in 23 games, the former Serie A attacker has netted 13 goals and provided as many assists. He has been one of the stars in this season’s Europa League having scored 5 goals and provided 3 assists (BBC) in just 5 appearances thus far. Sporting will face Istanbul Basaksehir in the Round of 32.

We shall see how the transfer saga unfolds in the coming weeks.

  1. Man united are not serious. Else, bruno should’ve been a united player since summer. His likes are what the team need to rejuvenate.

  2. I think Ole doesn’t really know what he wants. Sometimes he can’t make the right selection for a match. It’s one thing to buy players and it’s another thing to be able to use them well.

  3. We should have signed Bruno in the summer but because Ed woodward has handled transfers so cautiously as if the team is okay! We lack depth and anything done to solve this would be welcomed

  4. Yes.it seems Ole has lost the plot.
Utd has lost the fear that they once were know for.Ole is not ready to handle a big team like United.
