Manchester United have been linked with Kalidou Koulibaly for a very long time and once again the Senegalese star is in the lime light.
If the latest reports in the media are anything to go by then Man City are in talks with Napoli for the African star but Man United are still in the battle and could move to hijack the signing.
Transfer: Man Utd make contact to steal signing of £35.5million star – Report
According to Corriere dello Sport, the Sky Blues initially moved in with an offer of 50 million euros plus 10 million euros in bonuses but it was rejected by the San Paolo outfit. After that, the Cityzens made another bid of 60 million euros plus achievable add-ons but the Naples based side once again turned it down.
The renowned Italian news source have mentioned that the Serie A side are not interested in accepting any offer under 80 million euros (£71million).
The deal is stuck for now because City will not raise their bid anymore unless Napoli lower their asking price, however, CdS claim that the Italian side have ‘no desire, no intention and even no need’ to bring the asking price down.
That is where Man United come in. Corriere Dello Sport and Il Mattino (via Sport Witness) report that Man Utd are still interested and active and could sign the 29-year-old by splashing £71million.
Koulibaly is a two time Senegalese Player of the Year, who has made it into the Serie A Team of the Season on no fewer than four occasions. So, he is one of the best central defenders around.
The 33-capped international’s current contract with Napoli will expire in 2023. In your view, should Man United move in with an offer of £71million to secure his signing in the summer transfer window?
