De Jong and De Ligt - Netherlands

Since the confirmation of Erik ten Hag as new Manchester United boss, Dutch midfielder, Frenkie de Jong, has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Last month, Spanish source, Sport, reported that Ten Hag is consistently making efforts to re-unite with his compatriot, who has struggled at Barcelona.

Transfer: Man Utd will return, have cash ready to finally sign £60million star – Report

More recently, as per the update provided by Spanish journalist, Gerard Romero, Man United are expected to secure the signing of De Jong for a fee of around £69million (max) very soon.

Romero has claimed that there is a 95 percent chance that the 25-year-old central midfielder will move to Manchester before the end of the league campaign (22 May).

He further revealed that the Catalan giants need funds and that is why they are selling a player who has not been able to perform well at the club.

The La Liga giants feel that if De Jong does not raise his game in the next campaign then they could suffer a serious loss from his sale. Therefore, his departure is expected soon and Romero claims that the deal with Man Utd would be closed for a fee of around 70 to 80 million euros (£69million).

The 40-capped international, who has scored 4 goals and provided 5 assists this term, was a superstar at Ajax under the management of Ten Hag.

In the 2018-19 season, he was a key player in the squad that won the league and cup double with the Eredivisie giants and also reached the last four of the European Cup.

It will be intriguing to see if De Jong would really like to re-unite with Ten Hag at Man Utd, who will not be taking part in the Champions League next season. For the latest updates, watch this space.
