Club prepared to sell £181,000-a-week star to Man United – Red Devils hell-bent

Old-Trafford

Another day and we have multiple reports suggesting that Manchester United are hell-bent on signing Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona.

According to an exclusive story covered by The Sun, the Old Trafford club believe they can strike a deal worth £50million to lure the Netherlands midfielder this summer.

Transfer: £51.2million playmaker pressed to seal Manchester United move by rep

The British news source have mentioned that Ten Hag is determined to reunite with the 25-year-old star, on the other hand, Xavi is prepared to sell De Jong in order to improve the economic conditions at the Nou Camp.

In Spain, Mundo Deportivo (press image provided below) claim that Man United and Barcelona are discussing the transfer of the former Ajax midfielder.

De Jong has recently revealed that Barca is the club of his ‘dreams’ and he wants to stay

However, the Spanish media outlet have mentioned that the Red Devils and the Catalan giants would be putting pressure on the player to change his decision as the operation would be beneficial for both the clubs.

The ex-Eredivisie man still has four years left on his contract with Barcelona and he currently earns £181,000-a-week (CdS). The La Liga side have already sold Philippe Coutinho and it will not come as any surprise to see the Dutchman leave as well.

He proved to be a massive hit at Ajax under the management of Ten Hag but has not been as influential in the center of the park since moving to Spain.

Man United have already confirmed that DM, Matic, and CM, Pogba, are leaving the club upon the expiry of their contracts this month. Will we be able to lure Frenkie de Jong to strengthen the midfield? Only time will tell.
