Manchester United have been linked with Federico Chiesa for quite some time and the latest reports indicate that the Red Devils have even made an offer for the attacker.
Earlier this month, La Gazzetta Dello Sport reported that the Old Trafford outfit are one of the clubs interested in signing the Fiorentina star.
Yesterday, La Nazione covered a story and reported that Man Utd lead the race, they are ahead of Juve and Inter to hire the services of the Italian international.
The Italian media outlet have mentioned that the PL giants made an offer worth 50 million euros for the Azzurri attacker. However, the offer was deemed not enough by the Viola, who want 70 million euros (£63million) for their prized asset.
The 22-year-old star is naturally a right winger but he can effectively play through the center as well. In fact, in the current campaign, Fiorentina have mostly utilized him in the No.9 role.
Out of 26 appearances this term, Chiesa has played 23 times as a striker, scored 7 goals and also provided 5 assists in all competitons (Transfermarkt).
United are already using a natural winger in the form of Anthony Martial as striker, so, they should lure a proven quality out and out center forward to finally replace Romelu Lukaku, who was offloaded last summer.
As far as the wide attacking positions are concerned, Solskjaer does need to sign a quality right winger because Welsh international Daniel James has just been okay since joining the club. He has not scored a PL goal since August last year.
Jadon Sancho was Man Utd’s main target but the winger is expected to stay with Dortmund because the Red Devils do not want to pay £100million to secure his signature (The Mail). Do you think Solskjaer should splash £63million to sign Federico Chiesa?
