Report – Man United now prepared to bid to sign £245,000 a week playmaker

Erik ten Hag - Manchester United manager

Manchester United fans had something to cheer about as the team defeated Liverpool but the squad is not good enough as yet and strange transfer rumors are circulating in the media.

At one end, the Red Devils are linked with highly rated wingers like Antony and Gakpo, at the other end, reports indicate that Man United are prepared to bring Memphis Depay back.

Transfer: Man Utd prepare £79.3million fee after agreeing contract for signing – Report

As per today’s version of Marca (news image provided below), Juventus have backed out from the move to sign the Dutch international and he is linked with a return to Old Trafford.

The renowned Spanish news source have mentioned that as per sources, Man Utd are willing to bid to lure the Netherlands star. It is claimed Ten Hag’s team could submit an offer worth 10 million euros to sign Depay.

In all fairness, United should stay away from the 28-year-old playmaker, who has not been able to prove his worth in the big European leagues.

The 80-capped international was a superstar in the Dutch Eredivisie for PSV Eindhoven when Van Gaal opted to secure his signature for the 20-time English champions.

Unfortunately, he only scored 7 goals in over 50 appearances during his time at Old Trafford before leaving for Lyon.

In France, Depay regularly scored and created goals for the Ligue 1 side and earned himself a move to Spain last year.

Since moving to Barca, his form has been inconsistent. Last season, the £245,000 a week playmaker (Football Transfers) found the net 13 times in 37 appearances and this season, thus far, he has only warmed the bench behind Robert Lewandowski.

Therefore, in my view, Man United should not bid to re-sign Memphis Depay. What do you think?
