Manchester United are working hard to secure the signing of a striker this summer and it seems Joshua Zirkzee will be the one to seal the move to Old Trafford.
Earlier in the day, we covered a story stating that the Red Devils will activate the termination clause to sign the center forward from Bologna.
Transfer: Done – Man Utd have agreed £10m signing after fee cut to half
Other reports coming from Italy suggest the Premier League side are also prepared to agree personal terms to seal the signing of the Dutch striker.
According to Calcio Mercato, Man Utd have tabled a contract offer that will make Zirkzee earn around 6 million euros per season i.e. around £98,000 a week.
Erik ten Hag has been authorized to personally negotiate with the representative of the player, Kia Joorabchian, to get the deal over the line.
£98,000 a week salary should be considered very low keeping in view the current pay structure of Man United, who are paying their highest earner, Casemiro, £350,000 a week.
Nevertheless, Zirkzee currently earns just £19,000 a week, so he will get a bumper wage rise by accepting the terms offered by Man Utd.
United need a striker, who can score at least 20 goals in a Premier League season. Van Persie was the last striker to achieve this feat at Old Trafford over a decade ago.
Do you think Zirkzee is good enough to be the No.9 for United?
