Darwin Nunez - Benfica and Uruguay forward

Uruguayan international, Darwin Nunez, has proved to be one of the best strikers in Europe this season and Manchester United have been interested in hiring his services.

However, the latest reports going on in the media are not going to excite the Old Trafford faithful.

Transfer: £60million player close to Manchester United move – Corriere dello Sport

According to a report covered by RMC Sport, Man United are ready to pay £67.7million (80 million euros) to sign the South American center forward but the player does not want to join them.

The French news source have mentioned that even Newcastle United have advanced but the Benfica star does not want to move to the Magpies as well. Why?

The decision has been made because the two mentioned Premier League sides will not be taking part in the UEFA Champions League next season and the striker wants to feature in the competition.

Nunez ended the Liga Nos season as the top scorer and even excelled big time in the European Cup. He scored 6 goals in as many starts for the Portuguese giants.

Manchester United have heavily relied on veteran Cristiano Ronaldo for goals and the legendary striker might stay for another season but we need a long-term fix.

Man City are miles ahead of us and they have already secured the signing of Erling Braut Haaland. In order to compete with the Sky Blues, Ten Hag needs a proven quality young striker.

Do you think we can attract a top center forward without CL football?
