Manchester United have reportedly joined the pursuit of AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson ahead of this summer’s transfer window. The Brazil international has had a strong season with the Serie A outfit this campaign and his form is supposedly attracting interest from some of Europe’s elite.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport h/t The Express, United have made initial enquiries for the 25-year-old, who is also attracting interest from arch-rivals Liverpool. The £70m-rated keeper has been praised for his excellent reflexes within the box but it would come as a surprise if United are to pursue another goalkeeper.
United’s first-choice David de Gea has continued his rich vein of form for another season where he has been named in the PFA Team of the Year but the only uncertainty remains over his contract status.
The Spaniard’s current contract is due to expire at the end of next season but United remain quite confident of agreeing on a new long-term deal. Should there be a delay, the club still have the luxury of a 12-month extension clause to prolong his stay until the summer of 2020.
De Gea has been associated with a return to Spain with Real Madrid on multiple occasions over the past few seasons but Mourinho has clarified that the goalkeeper has no chance of leaving the club this summer.
