Without a shadow of a doubt, the Seleccao star deserves a bumper new deal and recent reports suggest that Man United are set to hand him a lucrative salary to extend his stay with the club.

According to Sky Sports, Fernandes is set to agree a contract that will make him earn £240,000 weekly, £62.4million in the next five years.

It will be fair to say that this season, the 27-year-old has not been at his best and once again, we are going to end the season without any title. Still, he is a proven quality, world-class player and extending his stay at Old Trafford is extremely important.

Last term, in all competitions, the former Sporting CP playmaker featured in 58 games for Man United and directly contributed in 45 goals (28 goals and 17 assists).

As far as the current campaign is concerned, the 41-capped international has netted 9 goals and provided 14 assists so far in 37 appearances.
