Manchester United and Liverpool are not just strong competitors on the pitch but always want to get the better of one another off the pitch.
In transfers, getting one over the Merseyside rivals always feels good but being on the receiving end is a bitter pill to swallow.
News – Amorim willing to sign £90million playmaker for Man United – Report
The Reds Devils are now set to have a new manager at the helm – Ruben Amorim. The talented Portuguese tactician is looking to transform the team’s fortunes, something that former manager, Erik ten Hag, was unable to do during his tenure.
Despite the managerial merry-go-round, Man United continue to be linked with transfers for new players and one name on the list is Omar Marmoush of Frankfurt. However, as per Bild (via Paisley Gates), they look set to miss out on their arch-rivals Liverpool.
Chelsea, Man Utd and Liverpool are said to be interested in the £41.8million star but the player is keen on moving to the Premier League and following the footsteps of his countryman Mohamed Salah at Anfield, effectively shutting out the Red Devils and the Blues.
Marmoush has been one of the best attackers in Europe so far this season and has been chipping in consistently with goals and assists for Frankfurt. However, the 25-year-old wanting to move to Liverpool is a blow for Dan Ashworth & co.
Man Utd are never a club to cry about lost opportunities though. It is always better to try and bring players who actually want to play for the club.
Unless something drastically changes, it is highly unlikely that Marmoush joins Man United. Thus, it’s better the club starts recalibrating and focusing their efforts elsewhere. What do you think?
