Man United told £56million would finally get signing done – Face competition

Nuno Mendes Portugal

Manchester United have been linked with teenage sensation Nuno Mendes for quite some time and the latest reports suggest that the Red Devils can finally secure his services this summer.

According to O Jogo (press news provided below), Sporting CP’s financial situation is not good even after winning the Primeira Liga title last term.

Transfer: Man Utd submit £21.5million bid to sign star – Report

The well known Portuguese news source have mentioned that to balance the books and to strengthen the squad with new players, sales are needed and the main chunk of cash can be received by letting Mendes leave.

O Jogo claim that the 18-year-old’s current deal will expire in 2025 and it has a release clause of 70 million euros, however, the the Lions are willing to negotiate a lower fee to sell him.

It is stated that the likes of Man Utd, Man City and Real Madrid are after the youngster, who can leave for a fee of 65 million euros. Sporting CP would allow the deal to have certain variables and add-ons.

Furthermore, the media source have claimed that for now, Mendes is focused on performing for the Portugal national side at the European Championships and his future will only be decided after the tournament.

Last term, Sporting CP won the Liga Nos and the Allianz Cup titles and the Seleccao starlet was a key member of their successful campaign. However, I do not think Man Utd need to sign a left back, especially for £56million.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer already has a top quality first choice LB in the form of Luke Shaw, who won Man Utd’s Players’ POTY award last season. On the other hand, the Norwegian manager has also got an experienced second choice left back in the form of Alex Telles.
