Erik ten Hag - Manchester United manager

Manchester United have sealed the first signing of Erik ten Hag’s era by luring Tyrell Malacia from Dutch side, Feyenoord.

The move has been confirmed on United’s official website and reports indicate that the Red Devils defeated the competition from Lyon to get the deal over the line.

Transfer: Man United agree £23.4million contract to secure signing – Report

According to The Athletic, the Ligue 1 side offered an initial fee of 13 million euros plus 2 million euros in variables for the young left and the deal was close last week.

However, the renowned news source have mentioned that Man United were able to trump Lyon with an even bigger offer to steal the signing.

It is stated that the Old Trafford outfit have agreed an initial payment of 15 million euros and with add-ons, the move could rise to 17 million euros.

Malacia regularly started in the left-back role for Feyenoord last term and he has already made 5 appearances for the Oranje as well.

Will he get straight into the starting XI at Old Trafford? We shall see.

Luke Shaw has been our first choice left-back for years, he was brilliant in the 2020-21 campaign but last season, like the entire United defense, the England international was average.

On the other hand, Alex Telles, who earns around £93,000 a week (The Sun), has mainly warmed the bench since moving to United.

Malacia would be replacing the South American star as the latest reports in Portugal (Correio da Manha) indicate that the Brazilian could end up returning to FC Porto.
