Manchester United need to act swiftly to strengthen their squad for next season and reports suggest that they are pressing to sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio.
According to a recent report covered by Quotidiano, the Red Devils initially moved in with an offer worth 55million euros but it was turned down by the Rome based side.
Transfer: Man Utd ready to agree fee, will negotiate contract in days to sign £43million star – Report
The Italian news source have mentioned that Man United will now increase the offer and submit £55million (65 million euros) to sign the Serbian midfielder.
It is stated that the bid will probably be rejected again by Claudio Lotito. The club president initially valued his prized asset at 100 million euros but he has lowered the asking price to 80 million euros (£68million) and is not prepared to accept a figure lower than that.
Milinkovic-Savic was in red hot form in the recently concluded Serie A campaign. The 27-year-old featured in 37 games, scored 11 goals and provided as many assists for the Biancocelesti.
However, Lazio could only finish 5th in the table and like Man United, they will also be taking part in the Europa League next season.
After seven years in Italy, the 30-capped international needs to take a step up in his career, and in all fairness, he needs to play Champions League football, which we cannot offer.
We shall see how the transfer saga unfolds and will keep you updated.
