Serge Aurier was left out of Paris Saint-Germain’s pre-season squad, and he will not be with the team in the United States.
This is exciting news for Manchester United as they were linked with the Ivorian right-back for the past few weeks as Jose Mourinho is looking to bolster his defense. Dani Alves’ arrival to Parc des Princes kicked Aurier out of contention for starting right-back role, and the player is close to the exit door this summer.
The Red Devils were also interested in Benfica’s Nelson Semedo, but he joined Barcelona, so Mourinho should look elsewhere. Inter and Juventus are chasing United’s Matteo Darmian, and the Special One must think of a possible replacement. With Aurier keen to leave the French capital, the 24-year-old could be a perfect solution for the right-back position and surely an upgrade on Darmian, who failed to impress the boss last term.
Offer in a region of between £17 million and £22 million should be enough to get the Ivorian as PSG will definitely not stand on his way out. Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus are also tracking the defender as they lost their respective right-backs recently and are looking for reinforcements.
Serge Aurier didn’t have the best time last season as he only appeared in 22 league matches, and although he had some law issues earlier in his career, there is no doubt that he is a quality footballer and would be a big surprise if he stays in Paris, after all.
