Manchester United were seriously keen on signing Goncalo Inacio to reinforce their backline, as per reports this summer.
In June, we covered an article from Record stating that the Red Devils are ahead of Liverpool in the race to lure the Portuguese international.

Moreover, reports in Portugal also indicated that United are preparing an offer to meet the 60 million euros release clause set by Sporting CP to sign the defender.
However, as per the latest update, Liverpool are clear to secure the signing of Inacio now that Man Utd are out of the race.
According to Correio da Manha, the record English champions have left the race and the Anfield side are now closing in on luring the 22-year-old center back.
The Lisbon based media outlet state that Liverpool are expected to submit an offer worth 30 million euros for Inacio.
CM Jornal claim the Lions are not only open to a sale but are also willing to start the negotiations at a reduced price of £38million (45 million euros). Initially, they were only prepared to do business for 60 million euros.
Why Man Utd have opted to move out of the race for Inacio? Because they splashed the cash and beat the likes of Liverpool, Madrid and PSG to the signing of Leny Yoro.
Ten Hag still needs to further strengthen the central defense because the likes of Evans, Maguire and Lindelof are past their primes, on the other hand, Lisandro Martinez is highly injury prone.
Therefore, in all fairness, Man Utd should move in for two time Liga Nos winner, Inacio, especially now that he is available for a bargain fee of £38million
