Man Utd backed to secure signing of £200,000-a-week star

Liverpool legend, Graeme Souness, thinks that the transfer business done by Manchester United thus far is not going to be enough to win them major trophies.

The 68-year-old has backed the Red Devils to secure the signing of a top striker in the form of Harry Kane in the summer transfer window.

Transfer: Man Utd have been prepared to bid £20million for signing – Report

Souness stated (The Sunday Times via Manchester Evening News):

“If Manchester United have finished their transfer business with the signings of Jadon Sancho for £73 million from Borussia Dortmund and Raphaël Varane for an initial £34 million from Real Madrid, then that is not enough investment for them to win the trophies this season that a club of their magnitude should be aiming for: the Premier League and Champions League,”

“The signing required to catapult them into title-winning contention with Manchester City and Chelsea is a striker who guarantees 30 goals a season. United must be in the market for a centre forward — for Kane or even Erling Haaland”

The £200,000-a-week star (The Mail) is a proven goal-scorer. Last season, he won the Golden Boot award in the PL and also won the Playmaker of the Season award for providing the highest number of assists. In all competitions, the 28-year-old directly contributed in 50 goals for Spurs.

At the European Championships, Kane scored 4 goals (all in the knock-out stages of the competition) to help England reach the final. However, The Three Lions were beaten by the Italians on penalties.

The Tottenham Hotspur striker’s future has been up in the air this summer and he could end up leaving the north London club before the end of this month’s transfer deadline. In your view, should Man Utd break the bank to sign Harry Kane?
