Man Utd backed to sign ‘proven’ £130,000-a-week star

The last Manchester United star to score 20 plus goals in the Premier League was Robin van Persie. The Dutchman scored 26 goals in our title winning 2012-13 campaign.

Since then, no Old Trafford star has managed to score 20+ league goals and since then we have not managed to win the PL trophy. So, a top striker is needed in the summer transfer window.

Former Man Utd striker Michael Owen is also of the view that the need for a center forward is the greatest and he has backed the club to lure Erling Braut Haaland.

The retired England international stated (via The Metro):

“If I had one position though it would be a centre forward, right down the middle. There’s one on everyone’s lips at the minute which every team actually need. Haaland is the name in question and virtually every big team at the moment needs a centre forward. He is going to be hot property when and if he becomes available.”

Owen is not the only ex Manchester United player who has urged the club to sign the 20-year-old Norwegian sensation from Dortmund.

Earlier this month, Lee Sharpe praised the youngster and stated (via MEN):

“Haaland has proven himself over the last few years as one of the best in the world in that position.”

Solskjaer wanted to bring him to Old Trafford in the winter transfer window of 2020, however, the star striker left Salzburg and signed a deal worth £130,000-a-week with Borussia Dortmund (The Daily Mail).

In the current campaign, so far, Haaland has scored 31 goals and provided 8 assists in just 30 appearances for BvB. He is the top scorer in the Champions League this term having netted 10 goals in just 6 starts. Will Man Utd be able to sign him this summer? Only time will tell. Should they move for him? Yes. Absolutely.
