Ever since Ruben Amorim was announced as the next Manchester United head coach, the transfer market has been rife with rumours of him signing a few of his former players from Sporting CP.
In the past few seasons, Erik ten Hag increasingly tried to sign ex-Ajax stars or Dutch stars to help him out at Old Trafford. Similar to the Dutch coach, Amorim also comes from a club that has incredible young talent.

Thus, it comes as no surprise that Man Utd almost feel that it’s inevitable that some Sporting players make their way to Old Trafford in the near future and one of those players could be Ousmane Diomande.
At the start of the month, The Sun claimed that Amorim would love to bring the talented Ivory Coast defender to Old Trafford and that the valuation for him would be around £70million. Now, as per Sky Sport, the Man Utd boss has held talks to sign his former player.
Along with Goncalo Inacio, Diomande was one of the biggest center-back prospects under Amorim and still continues to be one of the most talented defensive colossus in Europe.
Having previously played under the Portuguese tactician, it isn’t going to be a major leap for the player to come to Old Trafford and adapt to Amorim’s methods. The only challenge could be adapting to the new league.
Regardless, one would expect a player with Amorim’s potential to make light work of such adaptation and Diomande would be a superb signing for Man Utd. Let’s wait and see how it plays out.
