Man Utd told £21m would get signing done – £8.2m a year contract demanded

Ralf Rangnick - German manager

Manchester United broke the bank to lure English winger, Jadon Sancho, from Borussia Dortmund but unfortunately, he has turned out to be a major flop thus far.

If reports in the media are anything to go by then the Red Devils are looking to sign another player from BvB and this time, Manuel Akanji is in the focus.

The Old Trafford club signed Raphael Varane to strengthen their backline in the summer but things have been worse than last season as far as the defense is concerned.

According to Bild, Man Utd are interested in signing Akanji to further reinforce the department and it is stated that at least a fee of 25 million euros (£21million) would be needed to get his signing done.

The renowned German news source have mentioned that the Swiss international, who will be out of contract in 2023, currently earns around 5 million euros per year.

In order to extend his stay, Dortmund offered a deal worth 8 million euros per year but the 38-capped star opted to reject the proposal. He wants to earn at least 10 million euros per year (£8.2million a year) in future.

The German Bundesliga is a free-scoring league and Man Utd’s defensive record has been better than Dortmund this term. United have let in 31 goals in 23 PL games, on the other hand, the Signal Iduna Park outfit have conceded 37 goals in 21 league games thus far.

The former Basel man has so far started 16 league games in the current campaign and has helped Marco Rose’s side keep only a single clean sheet.

In your view, is Manuel Akanji good enough to strengthen the defense at Old Trafford?
