Man United clear to seal signing of £56million player – Report

Pau Torres and Sergio Ramos - Spain

Manchester United are interested in numerous center backs and lately, the name of Pau Torres has been in the focus a lot.

If reports in the media are anything to go by then Man Utd are clear to seal the signing of the central defender because the main competitors are not planning to hire his services.

Transfer: £100,000-a-week star tempted to sign for Manchester United – Report

Torres has been a consistent performer for Villareal and manager Unai Emery thinks that the only way up from the Yellow Submarine is to either sign for Real Madrid or Barcelona.

However, La Razon have reported that the due to a poor financial situation, the Catalan giants would not move for the Spanish international. Instead, they are looking to strengthen the backline at zero cost i.e. by signing Eric Garcia, whose contract with Man City will expire this summer.

Similarly, it is stated that the Los Blancos might not move for the 24-year-old central defender as well. They are going to pursue the signing of David Alaba, who would be leaving Bayern Munich on a bosman at the end of the campaign.

Moreover, it is stated that the La Liga champions are also worried about Ramos, who has not signed a new deal as yet, and Varane, who might be sold.

So, with Real Madrid and Barca out of the race for Pau Torres, La Razon have claimed that Man Utd are best placed to get his signing done and the player would welcome the move to Old Trafford.

Torres still has more than three years left on his contract and last week, La Razon revealed that he will only be sold by the Spanish side for £56million (release clause). For the latest updates on this transfer saga, watch this space.
