Julian Alvarez - Lionel Messi - Argentina

Man Utd have been heavily linked with Argentine international and River Plate striker, Julain Alvarez and the latest reports are highly positive.

According to Portuguese journalist, Pedro Almeida, the South American forward is very close to sealing a deal to sign for Man Utd, who will be activating the release clause in the player’s contract.

Transfer: £50million star could finally agree Man Utd move this month – Report

The 21-year-old starlet’s current deal with the Argentine club will expire in December this year and the release clause is worth 20 million euros (Sport).

Rangnick needs to quickly reinforce the squad and it seems that Alvarez would become his and the club’s first signing of this winter transfer window. It will be intriguing to see if he will get game time this term with Ronaldo around.

The La Albiceleste striker has been in red hot form for River Plate in the current campaign. In just 21 league appearances, the youngster has directly contributed in no fewer than 25 goals (18 goals and 7 assists).

The versatile forward, who was part of the Argentina team that won the Copa America, can also play effectively on the right flank if needed. At Old Trafford, we already have ample wingers in the form of Rashford, Sancho, Mata, Lingard and Martial etc.

As far as the strike-force is concerned, Cavani and Ronaldo are veterans and sooner rather than later, Alvarez should get his chance to shine should he seal a move to Old Trafford.
