In the summer, Manchester United targeted Issa Diop to strengthen their central defense but in the end, they signed Harry Maguire from Leicester City.

Unfortunately, the back-line has still proved to be very weak and reports suggest that the Red Devils are looking to go back in to finally sign the the West Ham star.

Transfer: Man Utd ready to offer £20million to sign £80,000-a-week playmaker – Face competition

In the summer transfer window, Man United offered Phil Jones to hire the services of the French international but the Hammers opted to reject the offer and held on to their prized asset (The Sun).

Now, The Sun have covered an exclusive report and claimed that Man Utd are considering making a move worth £40million to finally sign Diop, who is also wanted by top clubs like Chelsea and Tottenham.

The former Toulouse man left the French club to join the Hammers in 2018. In the last campaign, the 23-year-old was impressive and helped his team finish 10th in the Premier League.

However, this season, so far, West Ham are struggling and are currently just two points above the relegation zone. The defender’s performances have not been up to the mark as well and in the past month or so, he has mostly warmed the bench.

Diop’s current contract with the London based team will expire in 2023 and as per reports, he is valued at around £50million (The Express).

Man Utd have not been strong at the back this term even after signing Maguire and Wan-Bissaka in the summer. In your view, should Ole Gunnar Solskjaer move to sign Issa Diop this month?
