Thus, it makes a lot of sense for the English club to focus on potential signings for the future who they can target in the summer and improve the current squad at Amorim’s disposal. There are a number of gaping holes in the current roster and the Portuguese coach cannot continue in a similar vein going forward.
One player that Man Utd are interested in signing, as per Team Talk, is talented Atalanta midfielder Charles de Ketelaere who has been very impressive for the Italian side so far this season. However, they are not alone in their interest, with Man City eyeing him as the perfect Kevin de Bruyne replacement.
Ketelaere has scored 11 goals and provided 11 assists so far this term, making it a total goal contribution tally of 22. He has predominantly featured as an attacking midfielder and a central forward so far at Atalanta but it has to be said that he is capable of playing anywhere across the front line.
The 23-year-old struggled in his first season in Italy with AC Milan but his transfer to Atalanta has proven to be game-changing in terms of his career. Considering the form that he has shown so far for the Italian side, it is only a matter of time before top clubs in Europe start approaching him for his signature.
Competing with Man City for the youngster’s signature might not be easy for the Red Devils. Despite the difficult season that the Manchester blues are having, they still remain competitive and in the reckoning to secure Champions League football for next season and should have the edge in signing Ketelaere.
Stylistically, the young Serie A starlet would fit into Ruben Amorim’s tactical setup in an excellent manner and he could prove to be a transformative effect in the Man Utd team. It remains to be seen if the club makes an approach to sign the talented youngster and let’s wait and see how it plays out.
