Manchester United are still looking to reinforce their backline and the name of Sergino Dest has been in the limelight for quite some time.
According to Sport, Man Utd and Barcelona have escalated talks over the swap transfer of Dest and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Transfer: Man Utd willing to agree £42.5m contract to sign center forward – Report
The American international is not in Xavi’s plans for this season and the manager has been looking to sign a right-back.
Chelsea’s Azpilicueta was wanted but since he is staying with the Stamford Bridge outfit, the Catalan giants are analyzing options and could reach an agreement to sign Wan-Bissaka.
The England international is not in Ten Hag’s plan and Sport claim that the Dutch boss wants to hire the services of Dest, who earns around £64,000 a week (The Sun).
The 21-year-old USA starlet has not played a single minute for the Blaugrana in the current campaign. He was an unused sub in the opening La Liga game and since then, he has not been part of the squad.
On the other hand, Wan-Bissaka has mainly warmed the bench under the new boss and so far, the former Crystal Palace defender has only featured for 4 minutes in the Premier League (vs Liverpool).
Araujo and Kounde have played in the right-back role for Barca this term and Diogo Dalot has mainly played in the position for Manchester United.
Wan-Bissaka will probably have to warm the bench even if he moves to the Nou Camp but Dest, who was a hit at Ajax under the management of Ten Hag, might get the nod to start regularly at Old Trafford. What do you think?
