According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United will make a formal bid to lure Raphael Varane from Real Madrid.
The famous Italian journalist stated that the Red Devils have offered a five-year deal which the player will accept after the agreement has been reached between the two clubs.
Today, Football Insider have exclusively revealed that Man Utd have agreed a contract in principle with the 28-year-old central defender. Now, the Old Trafford outfit have to agree a transfer fee with the Los Blancos to sign him.
As far as the price is concerned, reports coming from Spain (Mundo Deportivo) have indicated that the Bernabeu outfit, who have already lost Sergio Ramos for nothing, are looking to get around 70 million euros (£59.8million) from the sale of Varane.
Earlier in the day, The Athletic claimed that if Man Utd wait till the end of the window, then it is likely the La Liga side will accept a bid of around £40-45million.
The summer transfer window will close on August 31 whereas Solskjaer’s men are scheduled to kick start their new Premier League campaign on August 14 against Leeds United.
Therefore, in my view, Man Utd must not wait to hire Varane. It is extremely important to get him as early as possible in order to give him ample time to fit in Solskjaer’s system before the start of the 2021-2022 season.
Last term, Man Utd conceded 8 more goals as compared to the 2019-20 PL campaign. Ole needs a consistent defense to challenge for the title next season and Varane’s arrival would definitely make the backline stronger.
