Transfer: £25million player expected to sign for Man United in summer – Report

As per today’s version of Mundo Deportivo (news image provided below), the Old Trafford outfit made a mistake by signing Antony instead of Gakpo last summer.

The Brazilian international has only scored 3 goals in 11 appearances since competing his move to United. On the other hand, Gakpo has scored and created goals for fun under the guidance of Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Moreover, the Dutch Player of the Year netted three goals in the group stages of the World Cup, whereas, Antony has mainly warmed the bench (two sub appearances so far) for the Selecao.

MD claim that CL clubs like Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have sounded for Gakpo and Man Utd fear losing out to the rivals.

The Catalan news source state if United want to amend the mistake, they will have to splash a huge amount of cash again. Ten Hag’s team paid 95 million euros to lure Antony from Ajax.

As per a recent story covered by Voetbal international, for now, the 11-capped Netherlands star is focusing on winning the World Cup. After the conclusion of the tournament, PSV would demand more than £43m to sell him.
