Report – Man Utd have held talks to immediately sign player, he wants £25.3million deal

Manchester United have not had the best start to the season with two losses from three games.

Erik ten Hag has been backed by the board with a solid transfer window but still, the results are yet to start flowing on the pitch.

Transfer: Man Utd moved in to sign £42million attacker before deadline – Report

Yes, it’s been only three games but this isn’t Ten Hag’s first season at Old Trafford. He has been here for more than two years now and progress was only seen during his first year in charge. Since then, it feels like the team is in free-fall.

If there is anything the Red Devils can do to arrest this, now is the time, during the international break.

As per TEAMTalk, Man Utd have held talks to immediately sign out-of-contract Frenchman, Adrien Rabiot, who left Juventus at the end of last season.

He is an experienced French midfielder. The 29-year-old has played for PSG and Juventus in his career and has also been a regular in Didier Deschamps’ national set-up. Despite his limitations, he is an excellent squad player.

As per a report covered by Caught Offside last month, Adrien Rabiot wants a three-year contract amidst Man Utd and Liverpool interest and wants to earn around €10m. That would work out to around £25.3m over the course of the contract.

Following Casemiro’s dismal show and with Manuel Ugarte yet to be inducted into the first-team squad after a late pre-season, the Red Devils can do with another option in midfield who can provide cover wherever needed.

Rabiot isn’t a natural number six but he can certainly play in other positions as well. He should be able to play as part of a double pivot and can also provide cover in other areas.

Let’s see if Ten Hag tries and signs the player before the international break and adds him to his options for the season ahead.

  1. Yes, we could do with more cover for midfield but I don’t know if Rabiot would suit. From what we hear, he can be a bit of a trouble maker and we don’t want that. Maybe keep with Collyer and some other young midfielder like Fletcher, at least until January.
