Manchester United earned second place in the Premier League and have shown great progress under the management of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Still, they failed to win a single title last term and need to reinforce the squad to earn silverware.
As per reports going on in the media, once again, the Red Devils are linked with a move to sign Turkish international Hakal Calhanoglu and they have presented an offer to bring him for free.
Transfer: Club prepared to sell £51.5million star to Man United – Report
The former German Bundesliga star’s current contract with AC Milan will expire on 30th June and it makes complete sense to sign the 27-year-old playmaker, who was in top form last season.
Back in October last year, La Gazzetta Dello Sport (via Sport Witness) reported that Man Utd were ready to offer Calhanoglu, who earns £42,000-a-week, a lucrative five year deal to hire his services.
However, the ex Bayer Leverkusen star stayed with the Rossoneri and helped them qualify for the next season’s Champions League.
According to a recent report covered by Tutto Mercato Web, Man Utd have made an offer to finally sign the 55-capped international, who will take part in the European Championships.
However, the Italian source have clamed that the Old Trafford outfit face competition from Juventus, who have also put forward a proposal to secure his signature. It is stated that the attacker’s profile has the approval of returning manager Allegri.
Calhanoglu scored 9 goals and provided 12 assists in all competitions (43 appearances) for AC Milan in the last campaign. He is mainly a central attacking midfielder, who has brilliant ability from dead ball situations.
We already have players like Fernandes and Van de Beek for the CAM position but the latter has not proved to be good enough. In your view, should Man Utd move to sign Hakan Calhanoglu on a bosman to replace the Dutch international at Old Trafford?
