Report – Man Utd have moved in to sign £44million star in summer – Face competition

Varane Real Madrid

Manchester United have been linked with Raphael Varane in the past and the French international is once again in the lime light.

Numerous central defenders were on the Red Devils’ radar in the winter transfer window but Solskjaer was not able to strengthen the back-line. He must improve the area in the summer and the reports suggest that Man Utd have already moved in for Varane.

Transfer: Report – Man Utd consider move to sign £20million player

According to Diario Madridsta, the Old Trafford club have presented an offer to sign the Les Bleus center back in the summer transfer window.

The Spanish outlet have claimed that the Los Blancos are looking to sell him in order to reconstruct the team for the next campaign. It is stated that United face competition from Ligue 1 champions PSG, who have also moved in for the experienced star.

Varane’s current contract with the reigning La Liga champions will expire in 2022, so he should not be extremely expensive next summer.

Last month, Sport reported that even the center back wants to leave the 13-time European Champions. Diario Madridsta claim that Real Madrid are looking to get a fee of around 50 million euros (£44million) from the sale of the former Lens defender.

Varane has won every major prize with the Spanish giants, including three league titles and four Champions League trophies. For France, he has already made 70 appearances and was part of Deschamp’s squad that won the World Cup in 2018.

So, the Frenchman is one of the most decorated defenders around and he is still just 27. So, it will be fair to say that he can perform at the top level for the next 5 or 6 years.

Man Utd skipper Harry Maguire has not been consistent enough and Solskjaer needs a leader in his backline. In your view, should Ole move to sign £44million-rated Raphael Varane in the summer?
