Manchester United have been linked with French international and Lyon striker Moussa Dembele for quite some time and now reports suggest, that the Red Devils have made an offer to lure him.
On 15th May, The Sun covered an exclusive story and claimed that the Old Trafford club are lining up a move for the former Celtic center forward.
More recently, as per Goal, Man Utd have actually moved in with an initial offer of 40 million euros £35million) to sign Dembele.
Transfer: Report – Versatile forward will probably agree Man Utd move
Last season, the English giants only managed to score 65 goals in the Premier League and Lukaku was the top scorer with 12 goals.
The Belgian international was lured for a hefty fee back in 2017 and he was absolutely average in the last campaign. After Mourinho got sacked, Solskjaer arrived and mainly utilized Marcus Rashford in the CF role.
The England international excelled at first by scoring 6 goals in his first 8 league games under the management of the Norwegian boss. However, after that, he only managed to score once in his last 11 PL appearances.
Therefore, United definitely need to strengthen their strike-force department and a talented forward like Dembele would be a top capture in my opinion.
The ex-Fulham man was a superstar at Celtic under Brendan Rodgers and this season, in 20 league starts for Lyon, he directly contributed in as many goals (15 goals and 5 assists).
Dembele will turn 23 in July, so his peak years are ahead of him. The French striker has got pace, he can dribble well and his finishing is top class. So, in my view, United should splash the cash to lure him.
It will be intriguing to see if the above mentioned initial offer would be good enough to get his signing done. Earlier this month, L’Equipe reported that the player is valued at 50 million euros (£44million).
