Man Utd have stolen a march by moving first for £40million player

Sessegnon

Manchester United are linked with England international and Fulham starlet Ryan Sessegnon and as per reports going on in the media, the Red Devils have stolen a march by moving first for the youngster.

According to Sky Sports News, Manchester United have made an initial contact with the Cottagers over the potential signing of their 19-year-old starlet.

The British outlet have mentioned that the likes of Spurs and Juve are also understood to be interested in the versatile defender but so far, Man Utd are the only club to have approached the London based team.

Transfer: Man Utd will launch attack to sign £44million midfielder

Fulham finished 19th in the Premier League and no one conceded more goals than them in the campaign (81).

Sessegnon, who is naturally a left back, mainly played in the left midfield role last season. Moreover, he was deployed in the offense quite a few times as well. In all fairness, he was poor at the back and more productive in the attacking third.

Overall, he featured in 38 games in all competitions and directly contributed in 8 goals (2 goals and 6 assists).

As far as United are concerned, Player of the Season, Luke Shaw is the team’s first choice left back. The 23-year-old had his best ever campaign for the team since moving to Old Trafford, so, it will not come as any surprise to see him regularly start next season.

Therefore, if Sessegnon is lured, he would likely be the second choice left back and I think that Solksjaer should only lure him if the price is right. The defender’s current contract with Fulham will expire next year and he is valued at £40million (The Mail).
