Manchester United are linked with several top names and now a proven quality star in the form of Ivan Rakitic is in the lime light as well.
According to renowned Spanish source Sport, Manchester United will launch an attack to sign the Croatian international, who wants to stay at Barcelona but his future at the Nou Camp remains in doubt.
Few days back, Marca reported that the Catalan giants are open to selling the former Sevilla man and they value him at 50 million euros (£44million).
Transfer: Report – Man Utd reckon major double deal could be done
As far as our midfield is concerned, Woodward has splashed a lot of cash to strengthen the department in the past few years. The likes of Pogba, Matic and Fred were lured in the last three summer transfer windows.
Ander Herrera is leaving the club, Matic is past his best, Pogba has never been consistent for an entire season and Fred has not lived up to his price tag as yet. So, reinforcements in the center of the park are needed.
Rakitic is a top class midfielder and over the years he has been brilliant, still, in my view, his best days are behind him.
The Croatian star is having an average campaign with Barcelona and it is likely that his place in the starting XI will be taken by Dutch international De Jong next season.
We need to focus on signing top young players, who would serve the club in the long run, and Rakitic, who will turn 32 next year, does not fit the bill. In your view, should United splash the cash to sign the versatile midfielder?
Rakitic is not the type of player united need in Ole build up system. He is almost getting to retirement age now.
Rakitic is way past his best playing days…. He will surely agree, just for a nice retirement package but his input wont take us far. Besides, u cnt teach an old new tricks, this type of players are too predictable, and getting the best out of them will not be as easy. So for me, no Rakitic, Declan Rice, will prove a better buy!!!
