Man Utd have submitted offer to sign £62m-£67m player – Face competition

Koulibaly and Skriniar

Manchester United are once again linked with Kalidou Koulibaly and reports suggest that the Red Devils have once again submitted offer for the player.

Almost two weeks back, La Gazzetta Dello Sport claimed that the Old Trafford club offered 100 million euros for the Senegalese international last summer but failed to lure him. This time around, they are still in the hunt to secure his signature.

Transfer: Man Utd in constant contact to sign £45million forward, who wants OT move – Face competition

Yesterday, Corriere del Mezzogiorno (Press Reader) covered a story and stated that Napoli has received offers from the likes of Man Utd and Liverpool and the Italian giants might end up losing their star defender in the upcoming transfer window.

As far as the competition is concerned, apart from the European Champions, even Newcastle United are interested in signing the African star. Reports indicate that he could leave the Serie A side for a fee of around £62m-67m (Le10Sport). Furthermore, the 28-year-old player is looking to play in a club that would be able to offer him Champions League football next season.

We finished 6th last season and in turn failed to qualify for the Europe’s elite competition. For now, we are 5th in the table, 3 points behind Chelsea, who occupy the final CL qualification place.

On the other hand, we have one foot in the quarter finals of the Europa League after winning the first R16 leg 5-0 away from home vs LASK. We won the competition back in 2017 to earn Champions League qualification. So, the route to CL via EL is very much alive.

Koulibaly is one of the best central defenders in the world and to lure the best of players, we really need to take part in the top flight of European football next season.

However, to be honest, defense has been one of our strongest departments this term. Solskjaer splashed a lot of cash to reinforce the back-line last summer and it is time for him to focus on other key areas.

Do you think that we need to sign Kalidou Koulibaly?

  1. This would be one of the best signings for United as far as center back is concerned.
We need him very seriously, to partner with Harry Maguire as Lindelof looks shaky at the back. If we need to sell Jones or use him m as a bait for Koulibaly that will be welcomed.
We need to aggressively pursue him as other big clubs have indicated interest in him.
If we are to sincerely compete with the likes of Liverpool, Man city, Barcelona, Madrid, Juventus etc, in both EPL and CL.
