Manchester United have secured a deal to sign Jadon Sancho, who will largely improve their attack. On the other hand, Varane has been authorized to strike a deal with the Red Devils. (Marca)
The French international, if signed, would be a world-class capture for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and he has what it takes to solve the inconsistency problem in the defense at Old Trafford. Who should they sign next?
Transfer: Man Utd offered £200,000-a-week to sign player – Decision made
In our view, the Norwegian manager must bring in a quality defensive midfielder and someone like Declan Rice would be perfect.
Without a top play breaker, the defense will never be rock solid. Rivals like Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City and even Arsenal have proven quality holding midfield stars in their squads but we have a veteran in the form of Nemanja Matic, whose best days are long over.
It is clear why Paul Pogba, United’s record signing, performs at a completely different level for France. He plays alongside a top DM in the form of N’Golo Kante, who consistently likes to press and break play and that helps Pogba focus on pulling the strings in the center of the park.
Here, he starts with the likes of Fred and McTominay, who are not natural DMs and are nowhere as good at tackling/breaking play as compared to Kante, Fabinho, Partey and Rodri. In such a scenario, Man Utd have to secure the signing of Declan Rice, who has been brilliant for England at the European Championships (yet to concede a goal).
Even Old Trafford legend Rio Ferdinand (The Sun) has urged Ole to lure the Three Lions star to improve the midfield. Even the play breaker is interested in moving to Man Utd but it must be remembered that he is valued at £100million by the Hammers (MEN).
The Mail’s Oliver Holt claims that Rice would be an attractive option for Solskjaer and if the 3-time European Champions do not strengthen the midfield (and central defense), they will not win the PL title next season.
Have your say – Should Man Utd splash £100million to secure Declan Rice?
While I like Declan Rice and I think he is a fantastic player, I don’t believe he is worth £100m, I think it is way too much to spend on him. There are some other options out there who would be just as good and a lot cheaper, Ruben Neves (Wolves) or Yves Bissouma (Brighton). But Ole seems to want more English players, but he will be extremely hard to get.
Too overrated for the 100m mentioned. He should be at least 50m.He is still a decent player but not world class I would rather sign ruben neves who is also premier league proven.
