Manchester United were not able to adequately strengthen their attacking department in the summer transfer window.
Their priority was to sign a top right winger. Jadon Sancho was on the radar but the Red Devils failed to hire his services. Solskjaer even failed to lure an alternative and he should strengthen the area in the winter transfer window.
Transfer: Report – Man United prepared to spend to sign £70million star in summer – Face competition
In my view, Man Utd have to secure the signing of Adama Traore from Wolves this month.
The Spanish international was in world class form for the Molineux outfit last season and that heavily increased his market price.
In the summer, renowned journalist, Duncan Castles (Transfer Window podcast) talked about Man United’s interest in the ex Barca winger, who was valued at around £90million.
Now, as per a recent report covered by Sport, due to drop in form, Wolves want to offload Traore and he could be lured for a fee of just £36million this month.
Traore is 24 and has his peak years ahead of him and we know what he is capable of. Praised by the likes of Klopp and Guardiola, Traore troubled the big guns last season.
He scored a brace at the Etihad to earn a 2-0 victory for Wolves over the then champions Manchester City. Moreover, he scored a goal and provided an assist to beat the Cityzens at home as well.
The Spaniard also provided an assist vs Liverpool and troubled a world class left back like Robertson. Overall, while mainly playing as right winger, he directly contributed in 18 goals in all competitions last season under Nuno Espirito Santo.
He is arguably the fastest player in the world and definitely one of the strongest as well. Last month, a jogging Traore absolutely flattened David De Gea, who was finding it hard to breath after the collision.
The La Roja winger has not been able to score a goal in the Premier League this season and he has been in and out of the starting XI as well. Therefore, his price has dropped and the West Midlands side are prepared to let him leave.
In my opinion, Man Utd should take advantage of the lowered asking price and secure his signing to reinforce the right wing position this month because the likes of Greenwood and James are not good enough. What do you think?
