Man Utd in front row to finally sign £42.7million ex Genk player – Report

Koulibaly and Skriniar

Senegalese international, Kalidou Koulibaly, has been linked with a move away from Napoli for quite some time. Once again, he is on the radar at Old Trafford.

Last summer, the Red Devils were serious about signing the Napoli star (via Paisley Gates) but De Laurentiis wanted 100 million euros from the sale of his prized asset. In the end, the asking price was not met and the player ended up staying in the Serie A.

Transfer: Man Utd offer £197,000-a-week terms to sign star – Move likely

As per the latest update coming from Italy, the 20-time English champions are looking to finally sign the African star. This summer, the Napoli president would let the ex Genk player leave for a fee of 50 million euros i.e. £42.7million.

According to Corriere dello Sport (press image provided below), Man Utd are in the front row, ahead of the likes of Liverpool and Man City, and have asked for information to hire the services of the 30-year-old central defender.

The famous Italian source have revealed that at Napoli, no one is non-transferable and as far as Koulibaly is concerned, he will only be sold if the £42.7million asking price is met. However, for now, the suitors are not willing to go beyond 40 million euros.

Solskjaer needs a reliable defender to partner Harry Maguire for next season and the Old Trafford outfit have been linked with Raphael Varane. Koulibaly has not won as many major titles as the Real Madrid man but he has proved to be highly consistent in the Italian league.

The 47-capped international has won the Senegal Player of the Year award on two occasions and he made it into the Serie A Team of the Season from 2015-16 to 2018-19.

In your opinion, who should Ole sign to strengthen his backline this summer?
