Manchester United in talks over 22-year-old outcast — could agree deal this summer

Andreas Pereira

According to the Mirror, Manchester United are in talks with Real Betis over midfielder Andreas Pereira. The 22-year-old has become an outcast under Jose Mourinho, forcing him to seek a loan move away from Old Trafford last summer, and he could agree a permanent move to Betis in the coming weeks as a result.

Pereira joined United from Dutch Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven in 2012 and has gone on to make just 13 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils. And with game time continuing to elude him in the last two years under Mourinho, his future is in doubt.

Against the wishes of his manager last summer, Pereira sought a loan move to Valencia and made 29 appearances for the Spaniards.  He could now make the permanent switch to La Liga, with Betis reportedly in talks over a deal. Pereira has spent the last two years in Spain, racking up more games in La Liga than in the Premier League.

Upon his return from the season-long loan, the Brazilian international may struggle for game time at Old Trafford, with Anthony Martial, Juan Mata, Alexis Sanchez, Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford for competition in United’s attack, so a move to the Estadio Benito Villamarín might be wise.
