Manchester United are linked with several quality midfielders and the latest name in the limelight is that of Fabian Ruiz, who currently plays for Italian club Napoli.
In the last summer transfer window, the Naples-based side demanded a fee of 60 million euros (£50million) for their prized asset (La Gazzetta Dello Sport) who ended up staying with the Diego Armando Maradona outfit.
Transfer: Man Utd ready to bid £96million to sign star – Report
As per the latest reports going on in the Italian media (La Repubblica), Man Utd now lead rivals to agree the signing of the Spanish international, whose current contract will expire in 18 months.
The Serie A side have tried but failed to agree a new contract with the 25-year-old and therefore, his market value should not be as high as it was last summer.
Ruiz is a versatile talent, who can effectively play as a creative midfielder and even as a deep-lying playmaker if needed. In the current campaign, so far, he has started 15 league games for Napoli, scored 5 goals, and also provided 2 assists.
The former Real Betis man was part of the national team squad that reached the semi-finals at the European Championships last year. Thus far, he has earned 15 caps and would surely want to feature for the La Roja in this year’s World Cup.
Man Utd have not reinforced their central midfield for over three years and therefore, someone like Fabian Ruiz would be a top addition if they can get his signing done.
Have your say – Is the Spanish international good enough to strengthen things in the center at Old Trafford?
