Manchester United are consistently linked with Atletico Madrid star, Saul Niguez, and the latest reports suggest that the Red Devils are leading the race to secure his signing.
A year ago, the 20-time English champions were prepared to agree a lucrative deal to hire the services of the Spanish international but the midfielder ended up staying at the Wanda Metropolitano (The Daily Star).
Transfer: £34million star pressing to agree Man United move – Report
Now, as per a report covered by The Sunday People today (press image provided below), Man Utd and arch-rivals Liverpool are looking to lure the Spanish international and the Old Trafford outfit are in the box seat to finally sign the La Roja star this summer.
Saul’s current deal with the Rojiblancos will expire in 2026 and it has a huge clause of £125million. However, the reigning La Liga champions could offload him for a fee of around £35m-£40m.
As far as the current wages are concerned, the central midfielder earns around £115,000 a week (The Sunday People).
The British outlet have mentioned that Diego Simeone’s side have allowed the player’s agent, who will travel to England, to find a quick agreement for the transfer of Saul. On the other hand, the midfielder himself wants to sort the future in the next couple of weeks when the La Liga and Premier League will kick off (August 14).
As per ESPN, Man Utd are losing hope that record signing Paul Pogba will sign an extension, so, the French international could depart. If that happens, then a proven-quality midfielder like Saul Niguez should be a top replacement in the center of the park. What do you think?
We shall see how the transfer saga unfolds in the coming days and will keep you updated.
